Cloudflare says AI bots now generate majority of worldwide web page requests

Cloudflare's latest traffic analysis shows that automated AI agents now account for roughly 57 % of all HTTP requests to HTML pages worldwide, while human‑originated traffic has fallen to about 43 %. The shift occurred earlier than the company’s forecast for 2027, marking the first time bots have overtaken humans in raw page‑load requests.

The bots tracked are autonomous agents that perform tasks such as price comparison, content scraping, and personal‑assistant functions, rather than traditional crawlers or malicious traffic. Cloudflare noted that most bot traffic originates from Gibraltar, Singapore and Iran, but the overall trend signals a move toward an “agentic” browsing era. Publishers, advertisers and e‑commerce platforms may see higher server loads without corresponding human engagement or revenue, raising new challenges for content monetisation and web‑resource planning.
