CloudNC raises $20M to automate CNC machining with AI
UK-based manufacturing software startup CloudNC has secured $20 million in a Series B extension funding round, bringing its total lifetime funding to $128 million. The round was led by Nimble Ventures, with participation from Calculus Venture Capital, Entrepreneur First, and LM Capital, an investment arm of Lockheed Martin.
CloudNC develops CAM Assist, an artificial intelligence software designed to automate complex stages of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining. The software integrates with existing Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) systems, such as Autodesk Fusion or Mastercam, to assist programmers in creating execution strategies. It automates tasks such as selecting tools, determining approach directions, and setting cutting speeds and feeds, allowing human operators to review and approve the generated code.
Founded in 2015 by Theo Saville and Chris Emery, the company currently employs approximately 80 people. According to leadership, over 1,000 machine shops globally use the software, with 80% of the customer base located in the United States. The new capital will be used to scale adoption and strengthen commercial and support infrastructures.
