Cloverdale Chamber promotes federal programs to assist businesses with tariffs

The Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce is informing local businesses about federal support programs designed to mitigate the impact of tariffs. Executive Director Scott Wheatley stated that the federal government has established the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI) to assist those affected.

Administered through Pacific Economic Development Canada (PacifiCan), the RTRI offers businesses the possibility of receiving up to $2 million in non-repayable liquidity support and an additional $1 million for transformation projects, depending on specific circumstances. Wheatley noted that the tariffs affect a wide range of goods, from steel to clothing, and can impact businesses involved in both importing and exporting.

While some business owners are attempting to find new markets, others are adopting a cautious approach due to the uncertainty surrounding the tariffs. Applications for support can be submitted through the RTRI portal via PacifiCan.
