Clásica San Sebastián 2026 set for August 1 with challenging Basque climbs

The 2026 edition of the Clásica San Sebastián will take place on 1 August, featuring a 221.1 km route that starts and finishes in the coastal city of San Sebastián. The course climbs nearly 4 300 m in elevation and includes seven categorized ascents, notably the Kalbario (8 % over 2.2 km), Azkarate (7.3 % over 4.2 km), the long Urraki climb (6.9 % over 8.5 km), Alkiza (6.2 % over 4.4 km) and Jaizkibel (5.6 % over 7.9 km). The race is part of the UCI WorldTour calendar and follows the Tour de France by about a week, attracting top climbers and all‑rounders.

Past winners include Marino Lejarreta, the only three‑time champion, and Remco Evenepoel, who holds the modern record with three victories (2019, 2022, 2023) and will aim for a fourth. Recent champions also feature Giulio Ciccone (2025) and Marc Hirschi (2024). While the overall layout remains largely unchanged, minor adjustments have been made to the early flat section and some climbs to keep the race unpredictable.
