Club América appoints Guillermo Almada, eyes World Cup player signings

Uruguayan coach Guillermo Almada has been officially presented as the new technical director of Club América in Mexico’s Liga MX. He said he declined offers from European clubs to take the role, emphasizing his commitment to the team and denying any plans to leave for the Uruguay national team.

Club América officials also announced that the club is targeting high‑profile international players who participated in the recent World Cup for the upcoming Apertura 2026, though no names were disclosed.
