Club América faces Austin FC in decisive Leagues Cup match

Club América prepares to face Austin FC in a decisive Leagues Cup 2026 group stage match at Q2 Stadium. Both teams enter the fixture with two consecutive victories. América, currently leading the Liga MX table, needs at least a draw to mathematically secure a spot in the quarterfinals, though goal difference remains a critical factor.

Ahead of the match, América manager Guillermo Almada expressed a desire for two to three additional reinforcements to bolster the squad for upcoming competitions, including the Concacaf Champions Cup. While the club is performing well, negotiations for Colombian attacker Jáminton Campaz from Rosario Central have reportedly stalled, though a final attempt to secure the player may occur.

In other Leagues Cup action, the match between Charlotte FC and Club Pachuca was postponed due to severe weather and forecasted thunderstorms in the Charlotte area. The game was rescheduled to begin later in the evening to ensure player and spectator safety.
