Club América faces challenges following defeat to Pachuca

Club América suffered a 1-2 defeat against Pachuca in Liga MX Apertura 2026. Following the match, manager Guillermo Almada took full responsibility for the result, stating that the players were not to blame and that the loss would serve as an experience for improvement.

The match was marked by a controversial and dangerous tackle on Brian Rodríguez by Javier Vallejo, which caused concern regarding a potential injury. Despite initial rumors of a physical issue, reports indicated Rodríguez was not injured and remained part of the tactical plans.

Off the pitch, Club América president Santiago Baños addressed the uncertain future of Raphael Veiga. Baños noted that it is unlikely the club will exercise the purchase option for the Brazilian player due to his high cost. Additionally, the club is looking to strengthen its midfield during the upcoming winter transfer window, having previously missed opportunities to sign Luis Chávez and Nelson Deossa.
