Club América keeps Thiago Espinosa as Henry Martín eyes UAE move

Club América confirmed that left‑back Thiago Espinosa will remain with the team through the Apertura 2026 season, ending speculation that he might join Atlante. The decision follows coach Guillermo Almada’s assessment of the squad during a pre‑season camp in Spain, and comes as the club also added Paraguayan full‑back Walter Clark on a free‑transfer to strengthen the defensive line.

Meanwhile, striker Henry Martín, who is under contract with América until summer 2026, has been linked to a possible transfer to Shabab Al‑Ahli in the United Arab Emirates. Reports suggest that former América coach Andra Jardine is pushing for the move, despite Martín’s recent injury‑marred campaign and his status as a key player in Almada’s project.
