Club América eyes European signings as new coach Guillermo Almada pushes for title

Guillermo Almada, the Uruguayan coach appointed to lead Club América, says the sole objective is to win the Apertura 2026 championship, acknowledging the intense pressure from the club’s large fan base.

The team is targeting three European players to bolster the squad: midfielder Luis Chávez from Dynamo Moscow, forward Andrés Martín from Racing Santander, and striker Borja Iglesias from Celta Vigo. The combined fee for the three transfers is estimated at around US$23 million, with individual costs of roughly US$6‑8 million each, raising concerns about high salaries and budget impact.
