Club América targets Ramos Mingo and Tona to bolster squad

Club América is actively restructuring its squad for the Apertura 2026 tournament, focusing heavily on defensive and midfield reinforcements following the departure of Sebastián Cáceres.

The club has reached an agreement to sign Argentine defender Santiago Ramos Mingo from Esporte Clube Bahia. The transfer is reportedly valued at approximately $10 million, with the 24-year-old central defender expected to sign a four-year contract. Ramos Mingo, a former Boca Juniors youth player, is a primary target for manager Guillermo Almada.

In addition to Ramos Mingo, the club is finalizing the signing of Mexican midfielder Iván Tona from Xolos de Tijuana to strengthen the defensive midfield position. While the club also explored the possibility of signing free agent David Alaba, reports indicate that the Austrian defender is not a priority due to concerns over his age and injury history.

Other recent movements include the arrival of Uruguayan defender Santiago Bueno on a one-year loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
