Club América draws with Monterrey during 110th anniversary

Club América marked its 110th anniversary with a 1-1 draw against Monterrey in a Liga MX Apertura 2026 match. Despite the result, the draw allowed América to maintain its position at the top of the league standings.

Monterrey opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a volley from Diego Rossi. América responded before halftime through a goal by Santiago Bueno. The match was marked by controversy regarding a non-called penalty and ended with América playing with ten men after Miguel Borja received a red card in the 87th minute following a challenge on Carlos Salcedo.

To commemorate the milestone, the club debuted a retro-inspired jersey designed by Adidas, featuring cream and navy blue colors reminiscent of the 1970s. The commemorative collection includes various apparel items for fans, with prices ranging from approximately 1,999 to 3,199 Mexican pesos.
