Club América's Brian Rodríguez sidelined by knee sprain before Apertura 2026

Club América announced that Uruguayan winger Brian Rodríguez suffered a left‑knee sprain during a training session in Coapa. The medical report indicated a recovery period of two to eight weeks, meaning he will miss the upcoming Jornada 3 match against Santos Laguna and is unavailable for the start of the Apertura 2026 campaign.

Coach Guillermo Almada noted the injury limits the team's attacking options as the squad continues to adjust after recent staff changes. Media outlets also reported ongoing transfer interest from clubs such as Inter Miami (MLS), Cruzeiro (Brazil) and CSKA Moscow, but no formal offers have been made.

The injury follows Rodríguez’s participation with Uruguay at the 2026 World Cup and comes as América seeks to improve its early‑season points total while preparing for the Leagues Cup.
