Club Brugge stadium project faces legal challenge
Club Brugge faces legal challenges regarding the construction of its new football stadium. While the club intends to begin construction this autumn, six local residents are taking the matter to the Council of State in cassation.
Local resident Toon Van Moerbeke stated that while he is not opposed to a new stadium, he believes the club has refused to reach a compromise regarding the project's scale, location, and mobility plans. A significant legal hurdle involves parking regulations; after a previous regulation intended to facilitate the project was overturned, the club may be required to provide sufficient parking on its own premises according to older rules.
The legal process could potentially delay the project for up to eighteen months, even as the club aims for a swift start to construction.
