Club Brugge to begin new stadium construction in January 2025

Club Brugge chairman Bart Verhaeghe has confirmed that construction on the club’s new stadium is set to begin in January 2025. While preliminary utility work involving electricity and water is expected to start in late 2024, the main construction phase will last approximately two and a half years.

The project, estimated to cost around 200 million euros, aims to provide a modern entertainment experience for approximately 40,116 spectators. Verhaeghe emphasized a focus on quality, specifically mentioning a specialized ‘floating roof’ design intended to maximize the spectator experience by eliminating obstructing pillars.

The club has adjusted its timeline, moving the expected opening from the 2028-2029 season to the 2029-2030 season. During the construction period, Club Brugge will continue to play its matches at the Jan Breydel Stadium, which is located approximately 200 meters from the new site. The new facility is intended to be a dedicated football stadium rather than a multi-purpose venue.
