Club de Mar Radazul joins Spanish marine and beach cleanup

The Club de Mar Radazul, based in El Rosario, will participate in the XII Great Cleanup of Seabeds and Beaches on Saturday, October 3. This large-scale environmental initiative involves 48 diving clubs and centers across 42 locations in Spain.

Organized by the Red de Vigilantes Marinos, the campaign aims to address waste that accumulates in marine environments, particularly after the high-pressure summer season. The organizers noted that submerged waste can fragment into microplastics, harm fauna, or damage sensitive habitats. The cleanup will also extend to rivers, lakes, and lagoons to prevent inland waste from reaching the sea.

All collected waste will be categorized and recorded via a mobile application. This data contributes to the citizen science efforts of Proyecto Libera, led by SEO/Birdlife and Ecoembes, and is integrated into the database of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition.
