Club Esportiu Alba announces season focused on Special Olympics and expansion

Club Esportiu Alba has officially presented its new season, focusing on expansion and participation in the Special Olympics Tarragona 2026. The club plans to send 58 athletes, 12 coaches, and a total of 70 people to compete in eight disciplines, including handball, basketball, cycling, football, swimming, padel, petanque, and table tennis.

To ensure all athletes can participate, the club launched the ‘Cap esportista fora dels Jocs’ crowdfunding campaign to cover travel, accommodation, and professional support. Beyond the Special Olympics, the club is growing, currently boasting 11 active disciplines, approximately 200 regular athletes, and 250 members.

Additionally, club athlete Pol Puiggener is preparing for his first full triathlon at the Challenge Barcelona on October 25. Participating in the ‘Triatló Sense Fronteres’ project, Puiggener aims to complete the 500-meter swim, 40-kilometer cycle, and 5-kilometer run with the assistance of a guide dog. Puiggener is a decorated athlete, having previously won two gold medals at the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin.
