Club Marconi Diamond Suite offers high-stakes gambling without strict oversight
Club Marconi’s Diamond Suite in Bossley Park offers a high-stakes gambling environment for patrons who turn over at least $500,000 annually on poker machines. Unlike major casinos such as Crown or The Star, which are subject to stringent source-of-funds checks and heavy oversight by the NSW Independent Casino Commission, the Diamond Suite provides access through an unmarked door where “no questions are asked.”
One regular patron, 62-year-old pensioner Patricia Zalavros, lives in public housing but has reportedly reinvested significant gambling winnings back into the machines. Her domestic partner, Angelo Ruisi, is a director of the club and a member of its gaming committee. Ruisi’s club membership was recently suspended following allegations of racial abuse toward guests, though he remains permitted to attend board meetings.
