Club Rotario and Parque Central sign reforestation agreement in Juárez
The Club Rotario Juárez Industrial and Parque Central have signed an agreement to collaborate on a reforestation project within the 50-hectare public space in Ciudad Juárez. The initiative aims to strengthen environmental actions and expand the park's natural areas.
Through the agreement, the Club Rotario will provide trees grown in its Samalayuca nursery, which has been in operation for over 25 years and has a capacity of approximately 50,000 trees. The species provided include Afghan pine, palo verde, mesquite, huizache, and poplar, all of which are adapted to the local climate.
Trees will be delivered once they reach approximately two meters in height. They are offered at a recovery cost of 350 pesos per specimen—significantly lower than their market value of up to 2,000 pesos—to fund the acquisition of new seeds and materials. The Club Rotario, acting as a donee, will provide tax-deductible receipts to participating companies. The goal is to mitigate the urban heat island effect, improve air quality, and enhance the city's visual appeal.
