Club Sport Herediano coach Paulo Wanchope to depart after loss

Club Sport Herediano is reportedly undergoing a coaching change following a 0-1 defeat against San Carlos in the tenth round of the 2026 Apertura Tournament. The loss, secured by a fourth-minute goal from Mexican player Brian Martínez, leaves the national champion with only seven points after ten matches.

Reports indicate that Paulo César Wanchope will depart as head coach. This decision comes ahead of Herediano’s upcoming match against Liga Deportiva Alajuelense on October 14. The timing of the departure is noted as a preemptive move by management, following historical precedents where losses to Alajuelense led to coaching changes.
