Clube do Remo website hit by second hack in one week

The official website of the Brazilian football club Clube do Remo has been targeted by hackers for the second time in a single week. The new intrusion occurred on Saturday, August 15, shortly after the club had successfully recovered its portal from a previous cyberattack on August 8.

The hacking group, identifying itself as Slaxxer, replaced the club's homepage with a black screen featuring the phrase “PWNED BY SLAXXER” or “DERROTADO POR SLAXXER”. The attackers posted a manifesto in English containing political criticisms directed at Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the federal government.

According to the attackers, the primary objective of the breach was not to steal data or personal information, but to use the platform to disseminate political viewpoints. While the club had previously implemented security reinforcements following the first incident, the recurrence of the attack has raised concerns regarding the vulnerability of the club's digital infrastructure. As of Sunday morning, the club had not officially confirmed the full extent of the compromise or if any internal data from employees or fans had been accessed.
