Cluj Infectious Disease Hospital honored by U.S. Embassy

The Spitalul Clinic de Boli Infecțioase Cluj-Napoca has received an Award of Appreciation from the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest during the ‘Champions of Healthcare Innovation 2026 – Leadership Forum’. The hospital was recognized specifically for the ‘Digitalization of laboratory workflows’.

The award follows the completion of the ‘eSCBI’ project, which focused on developing digital systems, modernizing IT infrastructure, and equipping the facility to optimize medical services and patient flow. The initiative was supported by the Cluj County Council.

Alin Tişe, president of the Cluj County Council, noted that the hospital has become a benchmark for hospital and outpatient activities, providing medical services that meet European standards. The facility serves as a regional center of excellence, managing complex infectious pathologies and major epidemiological emergencies for the Transylvania region.
