Clutch releases new single ‘The Drifter Returns’

Maryland-based rock band Clutch has released a new single titled ‘The Drifter Returns’, accompanied by an official lyric video. The track serves as the first release from the band’s upcoming studio album, which follows their 2022 release, ‘Sunrise On Slaughter Beach’.

Frontman Neil Fallon indicated that the band began pre-production and writing sessions in 2025, with further writing scheduled for January 2026. Recording is planned for late January or early February 2026. The band, which operates its own record label, has expressed a preference for prioritizing quality over a strict release schedule.

Clutch has reteamed with Grammy-winning producer Gene ‘Machine’ Freeman for these upcoming sessions. The band’s lineup consists of Neil Fallon on vocals, Tim Sulten on guitar, Dan Maines on bass, and Jean-Paul Gaster on drums.
