Clyde Christensen advises Chicago Bears on Caleb Williams' accuracy

Veteran NFL coach Clyde Christensen provided critical mentorship to Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson regarding the development of quarterback Caleb Williams. During practice sessions, Christensen, who has 47 years of coaching experience, observed that Johnson was not placing sufficient emphasis on ball placement and accuracy during ‘routes on air’—drills where quarterbacks throw to receivers without defensive pressure.

Christensen advised Johnson that accuracy must be a central focus of every film session and practice repetition. This intervention follows a season in which Williams recorded a 58.1 percent completion rate, ranking 32nd in the NFL. The coaching staff is now implementing a heightened focus on precision and ball placement to improve Williams' performance in the upcoming season.
