CMA CGM acquires FedEx Supply Chain for $1.4 bn
French shipping group CMA CGM announced the purchase of FedEx’s Supply Chain division for an enterprise value of $1.4 billion. The transaction, executed through its subsidiary CEVA Logistics, will lift CEVA’s contract‑logistics business in North America to more than 240 facilities, including about 150 warehouses, and increase its workforce to roughly 20,000 employees covering around 34 million square feet of storage. The deal also includes multi‑year commercial agreements between CMA CGM and FedEx for maritime and air transport services, projected to generate about $3.5 billion in revenue by 2028.
For FedEx, the sale is part of a broader portfolio simplification strategy aimed at concentrating on its core parcel and express delivery operations after recent moves such as the spin‑off of its freight business. CEO Raj Subramaniam said the transaction positions FedEx to focus on its long‑term vision. The acquisition aligns with CMA CGM’s ambitious expansion plan, which includes a $20 billion investment in U.S. logistics infrastructure through 2025, further cementing its role as a leading integrated logistics provider in the region.
