CMSA promotes inclusive investment education for people with disabilities

The Capital Markets and Securities Authority (CMSA) is promoting inclusive investment education to ensure all citizens, regardless of physical ability or economic status, can participate in the country’s capital markets. During a financial education session in Dar es Salaam, CMSA Head of Public Relations Charles Shirima stated that empowering citizens with financial knowledge is vital for unlocking domestic savings and fostering inclusive economic growth.

The initiative is part of World Investor Week, a global campaign coordinated by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) to promote safe and informed investing. In partnership with the Tanzania Federation of Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (SHIVYAWATA), the CMSA provided training on capital market operations, share purchasing, and personal finance management.

Jonas Mbago, Secretary-General of SHIVYAWATA, noted that the training helped simplify complex financial concepts for participants who previously relied on low-interest bank accounts or kept savings at home. The CMSA intends to continue using workshops, webinars, and social media to reach diverse groups, including students, teachers, and local leaders.
