CNAR Director Jahir Ocampo faces scrutiny over Netflix reality show participation

Jahir Ocampo, director of the National Center for Sports Talent Development and High Performance (CNAR), is facing scrutiny regarding his professional conduct. Reports indicate that Ocampo participated in the filming of the Netflix reality show ‘Physical 100: Mexico’ between October and November 2025 without requesting official leave or unpaid time off. This absence occurred while he was receiving a monthly salary of approximately 52,000 pesos.

The controversy extends to the athletes involved in the production. Brandon Díaz, an Olympic wrestler and CONADE-registered athlete at CNAR, participated in the show and gained attention for unmasking the wrestler Místico during a competition. The involvement of high-performance athletes, including some receiving CONADE scholarships, has raised concerns regarding potential injuries and the impact of television appearances on professional training schedules. While 2025 regulations restricted such participation, 2026 rules removed explicit prohibitions on reality show appearances.
