CNAV pension scam targets retirees with fraudulent emails

A fraudulent email campaign is targeting retirees by impersonating the Caisse nationale d’assurance vieillesse (CNAV) and Assurance Retraite. The scam uses high-pressure tactics, claiming that pension payments are being suspended or blocked due to issues with the recipient's bank account.

To “resolve” the situation, the emails instruct victims to call specific phone numbers or click links to validate their banking details. The messages often create a false sense of urgency, demanding action within 48 hours. While the emails may include fake file references or names of purported advisors to appear official, they lack the legitimate logos of the organizations and often use unofficial email domains, such as Gmail.

Authorities advise individuals to be vigilant by checking the sender's actual email address, looking for inconsistent formatting, and avoiding any links or phone numbers provided in suspicious messages. Official business should only be conducted through verified government websites.
