CNBB launches housing rights campaign in Brazil

The National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) has launched the 2026 Fraternity Campaign, themed ‘Fraternity and Housing,’ to promote access to dignified living conditions. The initiative aims to mobilize religious communities, institutions, and public authorities to address housing vulnerability through solidarity and the promotion of rights.

The campaign operates through three main axes: emergency support for vulnerable populations, projects for the construction and renovation of homes, and initiatives focused on awareness and the promotion of housing rights based on Church social doctrine.

To fund these efforts, the National Solidarity Fund (FNS) has approved several projects. In the first meeting of 2026, 26 projects were approved, followed by a second meeting where an additional 50 projects received more than R$ 2 million in resources.
