CNBC to close Hong Kong office and cancel several daily programs

CNBC is closing its Hong Kong office and canceling several daily live programs as part of a broader restructuring of its international operations. According to internal memos and company statements, the decision follows a months-long evaluation of international programming, commercial viability, and resource allocation.

The network has terminated daily programs including ‘Inside India’, ‘The China Connection’, and ‘Europe Early Edition’. Special series such as ‘CNBC Meets’ and ‘Built for Billions’ will conclude following their current broadcast cycles. While the physical Hong Kong presence is being shuttered, affecting a small number of employees, CNBC stated it will continue to provide coverage for Hong Kong, China, and the wider Asia-Pacific region through its teams in Singapore and Beijing.

This move comes amid changes to CNBC’s corporate structure. Earlier in 2026, Comcast split its cable networks, including CNBC, into a new entity called Versant Media Group. The restructuring follows previous staff reductions at the network earlier this year.
