CNDDU calls for improved school safety and teacher consultation

The National Coordination of Teachers of Human Rights (CNDDU) is calling for more realistic school policies and increased resources following recent statements by Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara. The group emphasizes that while addressing issues like bullying and technology use is important, educational policies must be developed in consultation with teachers who possess direct classroom experience.

Concerns regarding school safety have also been raised following data from INAIL. In the first eight months of 2026, twelve fatal accidents involving students were reported, an increase from seven during the same period in 2025. While total accident reports rose by 5.2%, the CNDDU argues that current safety management is often too focused on documentation rather than effective prevention. Approximately 75% of these reported accidents involved students under the age of fifteen, with 97% occurring during school activities.
