CNDDU calls for increased funding and support for Italian schools
The National Coordination of Human Rights Teachers (CNDDU) has proposed a three-year program following the vandalism of the Pazzini middle school in Villa Verucchio. The group is requesting at least 150,000 euros annually to fund specialized educators, support for families, and accountability programs to prevent youth vandalism and aggressive behavior.
Beyond the incident in Villa Verucchio, the CNDDU highlighted broader systemic issues within the Italian education system. Citing recent labor mobilizations in Trentino, where staff refused non-mandatory extracurricular activities, the organization argued that teachers are facing increased professional responsibilities and bureaucratic burdens without adequate economic or organizational recognition. The CNDDU is calling for 2 billion euros per year to enhance the teaching profession and reduce administrative workloads.
