CNDH demands information from Congress over rejected human rights recommendation
The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) has issued a renewed request to the State Congress regarding its refusal to accept Recommendation 04/2024. This recommendation, issued by the State Human Rights Commission (CEDH), was made in favor of María de Jesús Almendárez Prieto, also known as ‘Marichuy’.
The victim has reported a lack of legal basis for the rejection and noted that reparation measures remain pending. The dispute stems from a 2021 incident involving former deputy Eloy Franklin Sarabia. According to the CEDH investigation, during a meeting to seek institutional support, the legislator repeatedly interrupted the victim, made derogatory comments, and recorded the conversation without consent. The CEDH concluded that these actions violated the victim's rights, legal security, and the principle of legality.
