Cnel approves bill to promote healthy lifestyles in Italy

The Cnel assembly has approved a delegation bill aimed at promoting healthy, active, and responsible lifestyles in Italy. The proposal was presented during the XXII National Congress of the Italian Society of Nutritional Sciences (Sisa) in Rome.

The bill focuses on a model based on stimulation, culture, and training. Key measures include support for physical activity, permanent nutritional education, and information campaigns targeting schools and workplaces. To oversee these initiatives, the legislation proposes the establishment of an inter-institutional Committee, a permanent Observatory at the Cnel, and a National Day for Healthy, Active, and Responsible Lifestyles, to be observed on November 28.

Cnel President Renato Brunetta emphasized that improving well-being is essential for national growth and productivity, noting that success requires the involvement of civil society and professional bodies. Cnel Councilor Francesco Riva highlighted that the measures aim to benefit the entire population by focusing on primary prevention to reduce risks of cardiovascular, metabolic, and respiratory diseases, thereby ensuring the long-term sustainability of the welfare system.
