CNGCH reports positive 2026 horse racing season in Senegal

The National Committee for the Management of Horse Racing (CNGCH) has released a positive assessment of the 2026 racing season during its general assembly at the Léopold Sédar Senghor stadium. President Amadou Bassirou Fall reported that 25 racing meetings were organized between February and August 9, 2026, including the Grand Prix du Chef de l’État.

Financially, the committee announced the distribution of approximately 2.8 billion CFA francs to horse owners. Private promoters also contributed 75 million CFA francs to owners and industry stakeholders. The committee credited the support of the Senegalese National Lottery (LONASE) through sponsorship and urban mutual betting (PMU) royalties for the season's success.

Looking toward 2027, the CNGCH identified the acquisition of new financial partners as a primary challenge. The committee also highlighted the Grand Prix de la Gendarmerie nationale as a key event for increasing the visibility of horse racing.
