CNJ extends investigation into Mato Grosso judge João Ferreira Filho

The National Council of Justice (CNJ) has unanimously approved a 140-day extension for the disciplinary administrative process (PAD) investigating João Ferreira Filho, a judge from the Mato Grosso Court of Justice (TJMT).

Ferreira Filho has been suspended since August 2024 due to suspicions of involvement in a scheme to sell judicial sentences. The investigation originated from links between the magistrate and attorney Roberto Zampieri, who was assassinated in December 2023. Evidence includes dialogues extracted from Zampieri’s mobile phone, which investigators suggest reveal the scale of the alleged corruption scheme.
