CNJ suspends removal of councilwoman Aava Santiago

The National Council of Justice (CNJ) has suspended the removal of councilwoman Aava Santiago (PSB) from her seat in Goiânia. The suspension follows a ruling by the Regional Electoral Court of Goiás (TRE-GO) that had revoked her mandate based on allegations of party infidelity.

Minister Benedito Gonçalves issued the preliminary injunction after Aava Santiago’s defense raised concerns regarding the improper use of Artificial Intelligence in the text of the court's decision. The defense alleged that the ruling contained indications of AI-generated content and a lack of adequate human review, including passages that appeared to contain internal instructions.

The CNJ has ordered the TRE-GO to provide clarifications on the matter within 15 days. While Michel Magul (PSDB) had briefly assumed the seat following the initial ruling, the Goiânia City Council has suspended all administrative acts related to the removal pending further developments.
