CNN Portugal announces programming overhaul and new hosts

CNN Portugal is implementing a significant overhaul of its programming grid, featuring new hosts and formats. The changes will occur in two phases, with the first set of updates arriving in September and a second phase in November to coincide with the station’s fifth anniversary.

Among the key additions is MEP and PSD spokesperson Sebastião Bugalho, who will return to the network for weekly interviews. These sessions, conducted from Lisbon, will focus on national and European political issues.

The updated schedule includes several new presenter pairings: Nuno de Sousa Moreira and Cláudia Valente de Oliveira for ‘CNN Novo Dia’, José Carlos Araújo and Rita Rodrigues for ‘CNN Hoje’, and a new hard news format called ‘CNN Express’ hosted by Rita Barão Mendes and Andreia Palmeirim. Other shifts include Ana Guedes Rodrigues taking over ‘Jornal da CNN’ and João Póvoa Marinheiro hosting ‘CNN Prime Time’.
