CNPq Women and Science Award applications close this Thursday

The third edition of the Women and Science Award (Prêmio Mulheres e Ciência) is accepting applications until Thursday, the 10th. Organized by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), the initiative is a joint effort between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Ministry of Women, with support from the British Council in Brazil and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF).

The award aims to recognize academic excellence among female researchers and promote diversity within science, technology, and innovation. It features four distinct categories:

• Incentive: For Brazilian women aged 15 to 29 in the Ministry of Women’s Asas para o Futuro Program. • Stimulus: For researchers who obtained their doctorate from 2011 onwards. • Trajectory: For scientists who completed their doctorate by 2010. • Institutional Merit: For higher education institutions or research centers with strategic gender equality policies.

Individual prizes range from R$ 5,000 to R$ 40,000 depending on the category, while institutional winners can receive R$ 60,000. Results are expected in November, with an award ceremony planned for March 2027 in Brasília.
