Researchers from Italy’s National Research Council (CNR), Stefano Rampino and Francesco Pattini, published a detailed response to false claims circulating online about photovoltaic (PV) installations. They refuted the notion that large solar farms completely seal the ground, explaining that panels are mounted on poles, leaving the soil underneath permeable and allowing natural vegetation to persist. The scientists also clarified that PV sites do not eliminate evapotranspiration; in many well‑designed farms, spontaneous plant growth continues, providing cooling and habitat for pollinators. Their post counters alarmist narratives linking solar farms to heat‑wave aggravation, land desertification, and bee population declines, showing instead that the shade from panels can lower soil temperature by up to 7 °C and create a micro‑climate favorable to local fauna.
