CNSS reports 25 million health insurance beneficiaries in Morocco
The Caisse Nationale de Sécurité Sociale (CNSS) reported significant growth in its 2025 performance metrics. The number of beneficiaries under various Mandatory Basic Health Insurance (AMO) schemes reached 25.08 million, a 3% increase from 2024. Total benefits paid out under the AMO systems rose by 17% to 22.65 billion dirhams.
Specific insurance regimes showed varying results. The AMO for salaried employees grew to over 4 million primary insured members, with benefits totaling 9.22 billion dirhams. The AMO Tadamon scheme covered 3.95 million people, while the AMO Achamil scheme saw a 70% increase in members, reaching 265,551.
In contrast, the AMO for non-salaried workers faces a structural deficit. While its membership grew to 1.69 million, the ratio of benefits paid to contributions reached 157%, a 25-point increase from the previous year. Authorities are working to improve contribution collection and enrollment for this group.
Regarding general social security, the number of declared employees rose by 4% to 4.24 million, and the declared wage mass increased by 10% to 244.84 billion dirhams. The CNSS also increased its inspection and monitoring efforts by 22%, conducting over 10,000 missions to combat social fraud.
