CNSS reports 82% increase in maternity allowance payments

The National Social Security Fund (CNSS) has reported a significant increase in the payment of maternity daily allowances (IJM). In 2025, 2,371 beneficiaries received payments, representing an 82% increase compared to the 1,300 beneficiaries in 2024. Additionally, the rate of processed files rose from 47% to 77% during the same period.

During a meeting on September 22, 2026, CNSS Director General Dr. Olivier Rebienot Pellegrin met with representatives from the association ‘Mon IJM, mes Droits’ to discuss challenges in processing claims. Key obstacles identified include missing information and incomplete documentation. To address these issues, the CNSS aims to resolve all frozen or pending payments by the end of the year.

Future improvements planned by the CNSS include further digitalization of services, enhanced employer support regarding maternity leave procedures, and strengthened controls. Discussions also touched upon the financial protection of women during maternity leave, with potential legislative evolutions being considered to mitigate income loss.
