CNTE announces road blockades and school suspensions in Chiapas

The CNTE Section 7 has announced road blockades in Chiapas for Friday, October 16, targeting strategic points in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, specifically La Pochota and La Angostura. The mobilization, led by Isael González Vázquez, aims to demand the reinstatement of a tripartite dialogue table with President Claudia Sheinbaum to address labor, economic, and health grievances.

As a result of the protest, public schools throughout the state will suspend classes. This marks the first unofficial suspension of activities for the 2026-2027 school year. Additionally, the union has scheduled a state-wide march for October 26 to protest educational reforms and the 2007 ISSSTE Law.
