CNTE escalates protests in Mexico City, demanding formal dialogue with President Sheinbaum

The Coordinadora Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación (CNTE) is considering intensified actions in Mexico City as its two‑week‑long national teachers’ strike continues. Leaders said they may stage non‑traditional protests near the Estadio Ciudad de México, where a Colombia‑Uzbekistan soccer match is scheduled, to raise the visibility of their demands and pressure the federal government.

CNTE officials have called on President Claudia Sheinbaum to resume negotiations and to provide a formal, face‑to‑face decision on dialogue rather than vague statements in daily briefings. They have maintained a blockade in front of the Torre del Caballito and organized toll‑booth closures on several highways, while a camp remains in the historic centre of the city.
