Co Linh underpass construction in Hanoi targets 2027 opening
Construction is accelerating on the Co Linh underpass in Hanoi, with authorities aiming for technical opening before the 2027 Lunar New Year (Tet Dinh Mui). The project, located in Long Bien district, connects the Vinh Tuy Bridge approach road with Dam Quang Trung Street.
After nine months of construction, the 600-meter underpass is designed with six lanes. The structure includes a 100-meter enclosed tunnel and a 260-meter open tunnel. Contractors are currently focusing on the tunnel structure, approach roads, and technical infrastructure using continuous shifts and overtime to maintain progress.
In addition to the tunnel, work includes widening lanes and adjusting median strips around the intersection. Once completed, the project is expected to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity in a high-volume area of eastern Hanoi. Local authorities have emphasized the need for detailed daily progress tracking to compensate for previous delays while ensuring safety and quality.
