Coacalco gas center fire forces evacuation of 250 people

An incident at the Centro de Carburación La Guadalupana in Coacalco, Estado de México, led to the evacuation of 250 people after a fire involving two gas tankers. While authorities stated the event was a fire rather than an explosion, local residents reported hearing loud bangs and experiencing shockwaves that damaged house facades, gates, and windows in the Loma Bonita neighborhood.

One person was injured in the incident, and five dogs were rescued from the facility and taken to an animal welfare center for medical attention. The fire has been controlled, and the facility has been issued closure seals.

The Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México (FGJEM) has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. The area remains cordoned off by the Guardia Nacional, the Secretaría de Seguridad del Estado de México, and municipal police. Evacuated residents are currently awaiting assessments of the damage to their homes to determine if it is safe to return.
