Coacalco water main burst causes injuries and property damage
A major water main burst in Coacalco, specifically on Avenida Primaveras in the Parque Residencial neighborhood, has caused significant damage and disrupted local services. The rupture, which occurred during the early morning hours, released thousands of liters of water with enough pressure to scatter stones, dirt, and mud across the roadway, complicating vehicle transit.
The incident resulted in at least two injuries and caused severe damage to at least seven nearby buildings and commercial premises, as well as damage to parked vehicles. Local residents noted that the hydraulic network in the area is approximately 40 years old, suggesting that infrastructure wear and tear may be a contributing factor.
The Sistema de Agua Potable, Alcantarillado y Saneamiento de Coacalco (SAPASAC) has deployed crews to the site to perform repairs. To facilitate the work, valves in the area were closed, leading to a temporary suspension of the potable water supply in several surrounding municipalities. Authorities have advised residents and motorists to exercise caution due to the presence of mud and ongoing repair work.
