Coach criticizes Indian cricket management over Vaibhav Suryavanshi's selection

Manish Ojha, the childhood coach of 15-year-old Indian batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi, has criticized the Indian national team management for its handling of the young player during the T20I series against the West Indies.

Ojha accused head coach Gautam Gambhir and the management of practicing a “dictatorship,” expressing frustration that Suryavanshi has remained on the bench for the first three matches of the series. The coach argued that keeping a promising talent in a supporting role, such as serving water, fails to develop the player and could undermine his confidence.

Suryavanshi, who debuted in July 2026 after strong performances in the IPL and junior cricket, has seen his role fluctuate. While he was previously used as an opening partner alongside Abhishek Sharma, the management has since restored Sanju Samson to the opening slot, leaving the teenager without playing time in the current matches.
