Coach Mohammad Yunus Khan suspended for alleged doping complicity

Mohammad Yunus Khan, a prominent Indian athletics coach at the Army Sports Institute in Pune, has been provisionally suspended by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). The suspension is based on allegations of ‘complicity or attempted complicity’ under Article 2.9 of the NADA rules.

Article 2.9 prohibits assisting, encouraging, aiding, abetting, conspiring, or covering up any anti-doping rule violation. While the specific nature of Khan’s alleged offence remains unclear, he is known for training several high-profile long-distance runners, including Gulveer Singh and Kartik Kumar.

One of Khan’s former trainees, Kartik Kumar, is currently serving a three-year ban imposed by the US Anti-Doping Agency after testing positive for anabolic agents in 2025. It is currently unknown if Khan’s suspension is linked to that case or a separate violation.
