Coachella Valley Firebirds re-sign forward Jakov Novak

The Coachella Valley Firebirds have re-signed forward Jakov Novak to a one-year contract. The 27-year-old native of Windsor, Ontario, returns to the team after appearing in 37 regular-season games during the 2025-26 campaign, where he recorded five goals and seven assists for 12 points.

Novak, a former seventh-round pick by the Ottawa Senators in the 2018 NHL Draft, brings significant professional experience to the roster. His recent career includes playing for the Kansas City Mavericks in the ECHL, where he helped the team reach the Kelly Cup Final, and previously helping the Trois-Rivières Lions win the 2025 Kelly Cup Championship.

The Firebirds are scheduled to begin their 2026-27 AHL regular season on October 2, with a home opener against the Ontario Reign.
