Coahuila Deputy calls for increased cleaning on Highway 57

Coahuila State Deputy Guillermo “Memo” Ruiz Guerra has called on the Federal Government to increase inspections and cleaning efforts on Federal Highway 57. Through a formal agreement presented to the Coahuila Congress, Ruiz Guerra urged the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport to regularly remove debris, tires, and other obstacles from the roadway.

Highway 57 is a critical corridor connecting central Mexico to the border at Piedras Negras, seeing heavy traffic from both private vehicles and freight transport. Ruiz Guerra noted that road safety depends not only on pavement quality but also on keeping lanes clear of hazards. Data presented indicated that 445 accidents occurred on federal highways in the state during 2025, resulting in estimated damages exceeding 90 million pesos.
